Cachara, surubim, surubim-cachara

É muito semelhante ao pintado, diferindo deste pelo corpo coberto de listras transversais, que lhe dá um aspecto rajado ou malhado. Ocorre nos mesmos ambientes do pintado, mas, segundo pescadores experientes, preferencialmente sobre galhadas e tronqueiras no rio, o que dificulta sua pesca. A reprodução ocorre nas cabeceiras dos rios, após longa migração rio acima, entre dezembro e fevereiro. É uma espécie predadora que se alimenta de qualquer peixe.

  This is very similar to the pintado, the difference being the body covered with transverse stripes which gives it an aspect of pellet-fire or being spotted. It is found in the same areas as the pintado but according to experienced fishermen preferably on tree branches and trunks sunk in the river which makes fishing them difficult. Reproduction takes place at the headwaters of the rivers after a long migration upriver between Decemberand February.lt is a predatorthatfeeds on any kind offish.
