Bagre
de corpo bem alongado e cabeça igualmente longa e achatada.
Caracteriza-se por possuir a porção superior da boca bem
mais longa que a inferior, lembrando um bico de pato, de onde
vem seu nome popular. Ocorre nos rios e grandes corixos. Realiza
longas migrações rio acima para se reproduzir nas suas
cabeceiras, de novembro a fevereiro. Alimenta-se
preferencialmente de peixes e pequenos camarões. |

A
catfisht with slender and elongated body with a head equally
long and flattened. Its popular name "duck's beak"
comes from its very long upper jaw much bigger than the lower
ones. It is found in the bigger rivers and large "corixos".
It makes long migrations to the riverheads to reproduce from
November to February. It feeds mainly on fishes and small
shrimps
